This training will give you a good insight into the procedures that should be followed when taking charge of someone’s medication outside of a health setting. It covers requesting prescriptions, maintaining records, storing, administering and disposing of medication, self-medication and issues that might arise in the administration of medication.
At the end of this course your staff will be able to
- perform their duties safely and effectively when assisting clients or residents with their medication,
- Identify key legislation and regulations,
- Recognise your medication policy and use it effectively, To be aware of the different types of medicines and how they are used,
- To be aware of the risks associated with medicines,
- Know how to recognise and report errors, 7 Rights of medication and administration,
- Recognise some common side effects,
- Recording procedures.
